What is Limit Sensitive Data?
Several privacy laws in the US, such as the California Privacy Rights Act, state that customers have a Right to limit the use of sensitive data for any secondary purpose. The organisation behind a website must therefore provide a separate link titled “Limit the Use of My Sensitive Personal Information” or accommodate an optional technical signal solution.
With the Opt-out preferences form Complianz offers the possibility for a manual opt-out, which gives the organisation a nice overview of opt-out requests for the use of sensitive data. You can use the provided email address and name of the consumer to research if you have indeed used sensitive data about the consumer. Upon receiving a request an organisation can respond by acknowledging its receipt, a step that Complianz automatically does, confirming or rejecting the request, or responding that the right is not applicable. In general, an organisation must comply within 15 business days from the date of receipt.
