Troubleshooting missing translations

In some cases translations will not show up directly:

1. You’re using a caching plugin like WP Rocket, WP Super Cache etc.

Purge caches and try again!

2. You’re using CDN like Cloudflare or keyCDN.

Purge caches and see if your settings might conflict when adding new pages.

3. Your default language is not set correctly

Check your default language and time zone to see if they correspond with your expected output.

For example:

In our free plugin the documents are set based on the default language of your WordPress installation. Meaning, even if you have a non-English front-end (e.g German) , the WordPress back-end might be in English, as is the default in most cases. Change your WordPress language to match the required language of your Cookie Policy.

4. The premium plugin doesn’t translate the documents

This only applies if you used the Free plugin, before installing Premium. When everything is configured correctly with below articles and above trouble shooting. There’s a possibility that the upgrade to premium didn’t rename the free language files and is still trying to access those same files.

This leads to scrambled translations in the Privacy Policy, Disclaimer and others, because of lost strings. This happens sometimes, no worries!

To check if your files are upgraded correctly, please go to your File Manager or FTP:

Go to wp-content > plugins > complianz-gdpr (not complianz-gdpr-premium) > languages

The .mo and .po files should not look like complianz-gdpr-nl_BE.mo etc, but should contain a string of numbers and appear renamed after the upgrade.

What should I do when they look renamed?

Make sure above troubleshooting is done and has no effect and contact support.

What should I do when they don’t look renamed?

Did you deactivate the free plugin, before upgrading to premium? Our premium plugin won’t update the translation files in free. Please rename those files yourself or contact support!
